Grand Hotel Europa Is Again Among The Best
Not a month goes by without some new authoritative publication mentioning the Grand Hotel Europe. The October issue of Forbes Traveler features a list of 400 best luxury class hotels for the season of 2008 / 2009 which were named by a group of 80 experts including the managers in leading companies and tour operators. The professionals who are well acquainted with the worldwide market for 5-star hotels chose the candidates using 7 criteria: service level, convenience and interior design of the rooms and bathrooms, decoration of the hotel, restaurants, halls and extra equipment, sports options and location. In its review of the Grand Hotel Europe, which made the list, Forbes Traveler mentions the correspondence between the look of the hotel and the urban context, the quality of the twelve recently renovated rooms and high level of the cuisine and the musical program at the Europe restaurant. The hotel also made it to the November issue of Sunday Times Travel which made its own list of 100 of the world’s best hotels. The magazine noted the hotel’s rich history which made it a national treasure, and its famous Caviar Bar restaurant is a recommended place to visit.
Cena Italiana – Italian Cuisine At Angleterre Hotel
Even the ever-popular Italian cuisine changes when the Autumn comes. The Summer ruccola-cherry and cold carpaccio are replaced by pasta, meat courses with sauce and various types of gratin. Stefano Balduccio, the Borsalino restaurant chef, suggests a simple recipe to fight off the November cold. Just go there for Friday and Saturday soirees. Cena (Italian for dinner) is a special ritual which brings family and friends together, and both communication and the meals are supposed to give joy. Cena Italiana by Borsalino includes red and white wine, classic antipasti, light soup and hot meals, as well as desserts, tea and real Italian coffee. The menu of the Italian buffet is adjusted on a weekly basis. In November it will feature spinach ravioli and Ricotta cheese, Vitalla Tonato, beef medallions with red wine sauce, baked onion and potato gratin. After a long working day or before a long clubbing night, in a circle of friends or just for two, Italian cuisine with its lively colors and varied flavors will raise anyone’s mood.

The Other Turkey
In late October St. Petersburg has been visited by several hotels of the Kempinski network who regularly collaborate with the Columbus company. One of the purposes of the visit was to widen the horizons of traditional tourist destinations. For most Russians, Turkey has turned into a symbol of the “mass-market” holidaying, when the hotels are only in the all-inclusive category and the geography is limited to the names of a couple of resorts. Meanwhile, for Europeans Turkey is first of all Istanbul which is a city that combines history with Asian luxury and European comfort. The Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel is considered to be one of network’s best. Clients who grew tired of Europe are offered an alternative to a trip to Paris – a New Year’s eve package that includes 3 nights in a Grand Deluxe room, transfer in a BMW 7 limousine, massage at the room, 5 o’clock tea for two, half-day of excursion, dinner for two at the Laledan Restaurant and, well, a party.
